The FBI visited the headquarters of IndyCar team Rahal Letterman Lanigan on Wednesday as part of an investigation.
There are no official details about why the FBI visited the team’s facility in Zionsville, Indiana, but RLL said in a statement that it was cooperating.
“We are fully cooperating with investigators,” the team told the Indianapolis Star. “Since this is an ongoing investigation, we are limited in the information we can share at this time. However, we plan to provide additional information as soon as possible.”
According to Racer, the FBI also reportedly visited the Andretti shop in August to look for evidence of possible intellectual property irregularities. Andretti Autosport declined to comment to Racer, which reported that the investigation may focus on a former Andretti employee who now works at RLL.
RLL is co-owned by former IndyCar driver and Indy 500 champion Bobby Rahal and longtime talk show host David Letterman. The team fields three cars in the IndyCar Series, while Andretti Autosport had four full-time cars in 2024.
The IndyCar season concluded last weekend in Nashville with Alex Palou winning his third title and Andretti’s Colton Hertz winning the final race. Hertz finished second in the standings, while RLL’s best driver was Christian Lundgaard in 11th. Lundgaard is the most recent RLL driver to visit victory lane thanks to his 2023 win in Toronto. Before his victory, the team most recently took victory with Takuma Sato at the 2020 Indianapolis 500.
