May 24 – A Middletown woman charged with accessory to a crime after sexual videos showing a toddler has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
Tiffany Morningstar, 22, and Daveion Wright, 31, were indicted March 6 by a Butler County grand jury following an investigation by Middletown police.
Morningstar is charged locally with seven counts of aiding and abetting the commission of sexual battery involving a minor, a second-degree felony, and two counts of child endangerment, one a misdemeanor and the other a misdemeanor.
Wright, is charged locally with seven counts of pandering to a sexual battery involving a minor and one count of felony child endangerment. He has also been federally charged with five counts of child sexual exploitation.
According to the federal indictment, Wright sexually exploited a two-year-old victim on at least five occasions in January 2024 and shared the explicit conduct on social media.
On May 20, Morningstar entered an insanity plea and Judge Michael Oster Jr. ordered a forensic evaluation.
Attorney Gerald Wirsch wrote, “Defendant informed counsel of events that may have affected her mental state at the time of the alleged crime.”
Morningstar will be back in court on June 24 for a review hearing.
Wright was also in district court on May 20 and his case was continued until next month.
They remain housed in the Butler County Jail.
Middletown police began investigating the couple after receiving a complaint from a woman who said she was watching a Snapchat video of a couple known to her having sex and that there was a naked toddler in the video, according to court records.
Both Wright and Morningstar were then arrested and their cases were sent to a grand jury in February.
Assistant Butler County Prosecutor Lindsay Sheehan said, “There is a living child that we can identify, a young toddler. She is involved in the performance rather than actually being sexually abused.”
Sheehan said the videos are part of the investigation.
“She is never sexually assaulted herself, but she is involved in the execution of Tiffany and Daveion having intercourse,” Sheehan said.
She added that the toddler is partially nude and is the focus of the video.
There are multiple charges because Wright allegedly recorded the action and took multiple videos, but they come from the same interaction, she said.
“It shocks the conscience when you see it,” Sheehan said.
