Interstate crash involving RV leaves one dead, Western KY coroner says

A 26-year-old was killed Sunday morning in Warren County after he swerved to avoid a deer and was fatally struck from behind by a camper, state police said.

Kentucky State Police Post 3 was notified of a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 65 around the 25-mile marker northbound in Warren County around 2 p.m.

Early investigation shows that a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Alex Bailey, 26, Jeffersonville Indiana, was traveling north on Interstate 65 around the 25 mile marker when a deer caused Bailey to slam on the brakes.

Bailey was rear-ended by a 1999 Ford camper driven by 54-year-old Bruce Hutchins of Radcliff.

Bailey’s vehicle left the right side of the roadway before hitting an embankment. According to state police, Hutchins’ RV stopped against the inside wall of the left emergency lane.

According to the Warren County Coroner’s Office, Bailey died at the scene. Hutchins was transported to Bowling Green Medical Center by MED-COM EMS with unknown injuries.
