Investigation underway after 2-year-old boy drowns in Brockton pool, prosecutor says

Detectives are investigating the apparent drowning death of a 2-year-old boy in Brockton Saturday morning, authorities said.

Emergency crews responding to a report of a child found in a backyard pool at 111 Ardsley Circle around 9:15 a.m. provided care to the unresponsive toddler before transporting him to Good Samaritan Hospital, according to the District Attorney’s Office Plymouth, Timothy J. Cruz and the Brockton. Police station.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at hospital.

Some neighbors placed flowers on a chair outside the house.

I was watching TV and then I saw the police and the fire trucks,” said a neighbor, “Oh, what a tragedy, I just can’t imagine what the family is going through.”

The neighbor did not want to reveal her identity, but said the family was very loving with their children.

Another neighbor said he was devastated.

“They are like family to me, so I walk across the street to find out what was going on,” said neighbor Daniel Burton. “She was too desperate.”
