Forecasters are monitoring a tropical rain storm in the Caribbean that could hit Florida as a major hurricane next week.
Tropical rain storm Invest99L is expected to become a tropical depression in the coming days and continue to develop as it moves over the central Caribbean Sea, according to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center. AccuWeather experts say conditions are right for it to quickly develop into a major hurricane.
“There is the potential for the rain to intensify into a hurricane as early as Friday morning,” AccuWeather forecasters said. “Further intensification is expected thereafter, and a major Category 3 hurricane (maximum sustained winds of 110 miles per hour or more) is likely to hit the western Caribbean this weekend.”
