One of the most discussed topics during the baseball offseason is when the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot will be released. This year, however, there won’t be a debate over whether Ichiro Suzuki will be elected, but rather whether he will become only the second player ever voted unanimously into Cooperstown, joining Mariano Rivera.
Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the case of Ichiro potentially garnering 100% of the vote and the reasons why there may be a handful of voters who won’t vote for him despite his 3,000-plus career hits and his debut in the majors at age 27 .They also discuss the other potential Hall of Famer for the first ballot at CC Sabathia, as well as review the rest of the newest nominees for the ballot.
Also in this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Castthe boys discuss Paul Skenes walking away with the NL Rookie of the Year award, Luis Gil winning the AL honors despite it being a much closer race than expected and why the Manager of the Year award is a bit stupid. Jake and Jordan then explore who could get some MVP votes before talking about a new team being added to the Juan Soto Sweepstakes.
