PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Temperatures outside the city have warmed enough that any threat of freezing rain overnight has diminished, and now warming is starting.
This weekend is noticeably warmer than last weekend, with a high of 50 degrees in the city on Saturday. Temperatures will reach 64 degrees on Sunday. To think that we only started winter a week ago.
Saturday is a gray and damp weekend day with occasional showers. If you are at the Jersey Shore, you will see more rain as it looks like these showers will hug the coasts as they move through the area.
Sunday is more of the same, but with a few sunshine breaks, including one that bodes well for Eagles fans heading to Lincoln Financial Field as the Birds try to take on the Dallas Cowboys. If you head out very late on Saturday, you might see some rain (on the other hand, if you get up very early on Sunday, say around 2am or 3am)
Around noon the sky is clear, good conditions for tailgating and toasting the football gods to a Kenny Pickett victory.
It should be around 62 degrees by kickoff at 1 p.m.
We’ll get a break from the rain on Monday before the rain starts again to close out 2024. We’ll see a few showers on New Year’s Eve that could dampen any outdoor activities you might have planned, and the start of 2025 is looking wet as well.
This rain will keep us warmer than average with temperatures in the 50s.
As we close out the week on Thursday and Friday, we’ll see high temperatures return to something more wintery. We have a maximum of 40 on Thursday and 35 on Friday. We want to stay in the 30s next weekend, so enjoy the dry parts of this when you can.
