The Israeli army has mobilized a new reserve brigade for deployment in Lebanon.
The aim, according to a military statement on Friday, is to continue the fight against the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia and achieve Israel’s war objectives, including the return of displaced residents from Israel’s northern regions to their homes.
The statement does not specify how many soldiers are involved, but Israeli infantry brigades typically consist of 1,500 to 3,000 soldiers.
Early this month, the Israeli army launched a ground offensive in Lebanon and carried out air strikes.
The operations are primarily aimed at enabling the return of approximately 60,000 displaced residents of northern Israel to their residential areas. These individuals were forced to leave their homes due to continued rocket fire from Hezbollah in the neighboring country.
Hezbollah reportedly stated that the attacks were intended to end the Israeli offensive against the Palestinian militant organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army is now taking action against Hezbollah in the neighboring country to destroy infrastructure, weaken the militias and push them back from the border to the north.
