Israel says it has repelled a drone attack from Yemen

Israel has repelled a new drone attack from Yemen, the military said Monday morning, with a navy ship in the Mediterranean reportedly shooting down the airborne device before it could enter Israeli territory.

The Houthi militia in Yemen, which is allied with Israel’s arch-enemy Iran, like the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah movement, has continued its attacks on Israel, about 1,100 miles away, even after the ceasefire in Lebanon.

The militia claims it is operating in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has been waging war against the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas since the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

A week ago, a house in Israel was reportedly hit by a drone attack originating in Yemen.

In July, a man was killed in Tel Aviv when he was struck by a device launched from Yemen.

In response to Houthi attacks in July and September, Israel attacked targets in Yemen, including power plants and a port, reportedly killing several people.
