ITO EN uses SIG’s Drinksplus technology for new drinks

Japanese beverage company ITO EN has launched two premium drinks using SIG’s packaging solution and filling technology.

The new products, Crunchy Smoothie and Crispy Potage, contain bite-sized pieces and are packaged in SIG’s SmileSmall cardboard packaging.

The acceptance of this box was made possible by the integration of SIG’s Drinksplus technology into the SIG SmileSmall 24 aseptic filling machine.

With the new products, ITO EN aims to strengthen its presence in the vegetable juice market in the domestic market.

ITO EN brand manager Tetsuo Yamaguchi said: “Our new products offer our consumers a refreshingly different drinking experience – rich and satisfying with the addition of real vegetable chunks.

“SIG’s new packaging solution and filling technology, which allows for the addition of these inclusions, allows our consumers to easily supplement their vegetable intake anytime, anywhere.”

SIG’s SmileSmall cardboard packaging is easy to carry, handle and store, and contains a high proportion of renewable materials from the forest.

According to ITO EN, the cardboard used in the cardboard packaging is 100% Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified.

The lightweight packaging is produced with 100% renewable electricity and is fully recyclable.

The solution is also said to have the lowest carbon footprint compared to cardboard alternatives.

SIG Asia Pacific president and general manager Angela Lu said: “In Japan, it is crucial for food and beverage companies such as ITO EN to innovate the market with healthy and high-quality products, especially for on-the-go consumption.

“Our SIG Drinksplus technology offers the opportunity to add value to healthy drinks by adding pieces of fruit, vegetables, nuts or cereals, which can be easily filled into our convenient on-the-go cartons. It opens up a plethora of possibilities from new opportunities to transform and advance the Japanese beverage market.”

Recently, IP Natural Products selected SIG’s XSlimBloc carton packaging to launch its new range of juices within its Ivy drinks line.

“ITO EN uses SIG’s Drinksplus technology for new beverages” was originally created and published by Packaging Gateway, a brand owned by GlobalData.
