Jamie Foxx ended his 57th birthday in a pinch after he was hit with a glass during his celebratory dinner. The prolific actor’s publicist confirmed that he was dining with friends at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills when he was involved in an altercation with another table at the restaurant, according to CNN. The Oscar-winning actor took to Instagram to thank his fans and people who checked in with him.

“The devil is a lie. I can’t win here… thank you to everyone praying and watching me,” he wrote in the caption of the post. “When your light shines bright…they try to bring you darkness…but they don’t know you were built for it…the lights have shined bright…”

A statement to CNN from his publicist said: “Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. He required stitches and is recovering. Police were called and the matter is now in the hands of the police.”

TMZ spoke to a witness to the event, who said, “customers at another table were rude and vulgar to Jamie, and he asked them to stop because his family was present,” adding, “and that was when someone at that table reportedly threw the glass that hit him in the face.” He was with his daughters Corinne and Anelise Foxx, along with his ex Kristin Grannis.

CBS reports this Police arrived on scene after someone called to report an assault with a deadly weapon. However, the officers who responded to the call determined the claim was unfounded. Instead, the incident was ruled a physical altercation. Foxx left the restaurant before police arrived. according to TMZ.
