Jaylen Brown’s mother’s house in Massachusetts was burglarized while the Boston Celtics were on the road

BOSTON – Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown’s home in Wellesley, Massachusetts, was burglarized over the weekend, sources told WBZ-TV Sports. Brown is the latest professional athlete to be affected by a home invasion.

Brown missed practice Tuesday to be with his mother after her home was broken into Sunday night. His mother was not injured during the incident.

The Celtics played the Wizards in Washington, DC on Sunday night. Wellesley police said they are investigating the burglary.

In a separate incident, WBZ has confirmed that a member of the Celtics coaching staff was also recently the victim of a burglary.

In a statement, the Celtics said: “The safety of Celtics players, families and staff is of the utmost importance to us. We are aware of the recent incidents and are cooperating with authorities. The team has no further information at this time commentary. .”

WBZ contacted the Boston office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about the incidents, but a spokesperson had no comment Thursday.

Homes of NFL and NBA players targeted

The NBA and NFL have both warned their teams about a burglary ring targeting the homes of high-profile athletes while they are away.

Last week, police said someone broke into the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback’s home Joe Burrow’s house while playing a game against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.

Just days apart in October, the homes of Kansas City Chiefs superstars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were burglarized.

Homes owned by Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr. and Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis were also targeted earlier this year.

In November, sources told CBS News that the FBI is investigating whether the high-profile incidents are related and whether a trans-international crime ring is behind the burglaries.
