The Jets have completed their interview with Rex Ryan as the team’s new head coach.
Ryan identified himself as a candidate early in the process and the Jets have confirmed he has been granted an interview. Ryan said publicly that he believes he will get the job.
The 62-year-old Ryan was a popular head coach during his previous stint with the Jets from 2019 to 2014, especially in his first two seasons when he led the Jets to back-to-back AFC Championship Games. But after those impressive first two years, he didn’t make the playoffs again, and he didn’t make the playoffs the next two years as head coach of the Bills either.
The Jets still haven’t been to the playoffs since Ryan’s days as head coach. Maybe they hire him thinking he’s the coach that will bring them back.
