Another wrinkle came to the New York Jets’ ongoing Haason Reddick situation on Thursday.

The Pro Bowl pass rusher’s agents at Creative Artists Agency have parted ways with him amid a contract extension dating back to the start of training camp, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Per NFL Network’s Mike GarafoloCAA had tried to strike an extension deal with the Jets while Reddick himself was dug in, leading to a split over “philosophical differences.” That’s not surprising considering how bad the past few months have been for anyone hoping to see Reddick play in a Jets uniform.

The Jets traded for Reddick in March in hopes he could bolster a defense that ranked seventh in the NFL in stats and fifth in pressure. Only TJ Watt, Myles Garrett and Trey Hendrickson had more sacks in the previous four seasons than Reddick’s 50.5, which reached double figures in each of those seasons.

Crucially, the Jets made that trade with the Philadelphia Eagles without a contract extension deal in place. Reddick is expected to head to free agency after this season. Without a deal in place, Reddick opted to postpone training camp and then requested a trade from a team that had acquired him months earlier. The Jets denied the request.

With Reddick’s postponement now extending into the regular season, he has reportedly forfeited more than $5 million in NFL-imposed fines and lost more than $4 million in lost game checks. He has a base salary of $14.25 million this season, per Spotrac.

The situation got so ugly that Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers took a swipe at Reddick’s agents last month while complaining about an article describing the Jets as being in “complete disarray.” It turns out that Reddick’s officers weren’t happy either.
