Like Cheryl Bosa, the NFL world would love to one day see Nick and Joey Bosa take the field together and terrorize opposing quarterbacks.

So when Joey was the subject of multiple trade rumors this offseason as his future with the Los Angeles Chargers became unclear, 49ers Faithful couldn’t help but speculate about a Bosa Brothers union in San Francisco. And apparently the brothers also had conversations about a possible collaboration this season.

“It would be cool someday,” Joey said Wednesday (ESPN’s Kris Rhim). “I always thought I was someone who would play here [in Los Angeles] and retire here, which I don’t think many people do on one team and I think would be a cool thing to accomplish.

‘But you never know. I’m going to worry about this year first.’

Naturally, Joey took a pay cut to stay with the team that drafted him third overall in 2016, ending talk of the older Bosa with Red and Gold with his little brother in the league in 2024 – for now.

Before Joey restructured his contract to stay with Los Angeles, a social media post from Mama Bosa in which he excitedly advocated for her sons’ 49ers union attracted attention.

And this isn’t the first offseason the brothers have discussed collaborating in the pros.

The two imagined the real possibility of working together one day before the 2020 season, Nick’s second season.

“Yes, we’ve spent every waking hour together for the last six months, so obviously we’re having those conversations,” Nick said in an August 2020 video call with Bay Area reporters. “… We were pretty confident that the Chargers were going to help us get this done. I’m very happy that they did. Joey loves his team and his teammates, so he’s happy. He’s just happy that he is stress-free and is able to just go to work.

“Hopefully we might get together later in our careers, but we’re focused on our own paths right now.”

Four years later, that ‘later’ will have to wait. But never say never: that is certainly not the case with the Bosas.
