Jon Stewart says POTUS race comes down to Biden and Trump accusing the other of having ‘soup where there should be brains’

  • Jon Stewart came out swinging Monday about how he thinks the POTUS race has evolved.

  • Stewart said it now comes down to each candidate accusing the other of having soup where there should be brains.

  • Biden And Trump will face off in a debate at CNN’s Atlanta studio on June 27.

Jon Stewart isn’t mincing words about how he thinks the 2024 presidential race has turned into mudslinging about the state of each candidate’s cognitive skills.

In his Monday monologue on “The Daily Show,” Stewart started his segment with a “quick state of affairs.”

“I think the election basically came down to each candidate accusing the other of having soup where brains should be,” Stewart joked.

Stewart, 61, then went on to do something that earned him a lot of criticism in February when he first started on the Comedy Central show on Monday: He called out both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump for their advanced age.

Biden is 81 and Trump is 78.

“For example, President Biden has been in the habit of seemingly staring at what can only be considered ghosts or paratroopers off-screen,” Stewart said as an embarrassing clip played of Biden appearing to wander off at the G7 summit. “And then when he’s pulled back into view, he somehow gives the impression that someone just made a quantum leap in his body.”

Stewart also lambasted Trump, commenting on how Trump recently crowed about his great cognitive skills at a GOP event.

“The case he’s making to the American public is that he’s the sharpest tool in the shed. See if you can spot the flaw in his logic just one sentence later,” Stewart said.

The show then played a segment in which Trump bragged about taking a cognitive test — and then got the name of the doctor who gave him the test wrong.

‘I took a cognitive test and I passed it. Doc Ronny – Doc Ronny Johnson,” Trump said, mangling the name of then-White House physician Ronny Jackson. “Does everyone know Ronny Johnson, Congressman from Texas? He was the White House doctor.”

“He got the guy’s name wrong on his cognitive test,” Stewart said, laughing. “I don’t even know what to say.”

Stewart also expressed concern about the candidates’ advanced age on a February episode of “The Daily Show.”

“The stakes of these elections do not make Donald Trump’s opponent any less a subject of investigation. It actually makes him more of a subject of investigation,” Stewart said in February.

But Stewart’s critics blasted him, saying he had wrongly equated the aging president with his opponent, a four-time indicted and now convicted felon.

Trump and Biden will face off on stage during the first presidential debate of 2024, which will take place on CNN on June 27 at the network’s studio in Atlanta.

Representatives for Trump and Biden did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
