(CBS-DETROIT) – An Ann Arbor overpass is closed indefinitely while crews assess damage after a crash Tuesday evening.
At 8:30 p.m., Michigan State Police troopers responded to US-23 southbound at the Joy Road overpass after receiving a report of a crash involving a 2023 International semi-truck.
The driver of the truck, a 51-year-old man from Mississippi, was traveling southbound on US-23 and was carrying an excavator on a flatbed truck.
According to state police, the excavator’s boom struck the overpass and damaged the bridge.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no one was injured.
The truck driver was issued a report for driving his vehicle over a great height.
Michigan Department of Transportation crews have closed the bridge indefinitely while they assess the damage.
Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes during this closure.
