A circuit court judge today denied Debra Geron, one of three family members charged in the murder of a 10-year-old girl in their Wahiawa home, supervised release or a $100,000 bond.

Geron suggested she be released into the custody of her husband, William Geron, who still lives at the 33 Karsten Drive home where Geanna Bradley was found dead on January 18 after allegedly being bound with duct tape, starved, beaten and locked up. a small room with a bucket as a toilet and a chest to sleep in.

Judge Paul Wong, after reviewing the written motion and opposition documents filed with the court and the testimony of William Geron, ruled that Geron’s husband is not a viable sponsor, according to court filings.

Geron, her daughter Brandy Blas and son-in-law Thomas Blas are being held without bail on numerous charges related to the death and assault of Bradley, of whom the Blases had legal custody.

The Medical Examiner’s Office found that Bradley died from prolonged child abuse and neglect, starvation, blunt force trauma resulting from abuse, prolonged immobilization, physical restraint, medical neglect and pneumonia.

Geron was indicted on February 14 on charges of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and first-degree hindering prosecution, to which she has pleaded not guilty until February 22.

Her court-appointed attorney, Walter Rodby, said in his request for supervised release that she has no criminal record, is not a flight risk, poses no danger to the public and is a lifelong resident of Oahu.

But she faces a possible life sentence without the possibility of parole because the killing was “particularly heinous, atrocious or cruel and demonstrated exceptional depravity,” the state argued, citing state law.

William Geron has not been charged with any crimes, but the deputy prosecutor has argued that he will be called as a witness in the trial of Debra Geron, either for the defense or for the state, according to the prosecutor’s memorandum opposing the release of his wife under supervision.

The other minor children and William Geron, who lived in the home at the time of the alleged abuse that led to Bradley’s death, denied that any such abuse or assault occurred, the document alleges.

“However, the investigation, including the evidence recovered, makes these denials patently untrue,” the state alleges.

Judge Wong also denied Brandy Blas’ request for supervised release on May 1, citing that she is a flight risk due to the life sentence without parole if convicted, and given the charges of hindering prosecution and obstruction , it poses a risk of obstruction of justice.
