Justin Timberlake breaks silence at Chicago concert after DWI arrest: the latter

Justin Timberlake returned to the stage Friday night in Chicago, three days after he was arrested for alleged drunken driving in Sag Harbor, NY. The superstar is on his ‘Forget Tomorrow World Tour’. The 43-year-old alluded to the incident, telling the crowd: “It’s been a tough week.”

“We’ve been through ups and downs together, left and right… but you’re here and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now,” the singer said. Trolls the star said in videos posted to X. The crowd erupted in cheers.

“I know it’s hard to love me sometimes, but you keep loving me and I love you right back,” he concluded. “Thank you so much!”

This is the state of affairs after Timberlake’s arrest in the Hamptons.

The singer’s wife, who has been married for more than a decade, is apparently “not happy” with her husband and the “distraction” he has brought to their family. (They share two sons: Silas, 9, and Phineas, 4.)

“She had to film yesterday. She doesn’t like attention on the family, especially negative ones,” a source told People. Well, the actress who is filming the series The better sister in New York City, “will always be by his side.”

Timberlake was charged on June 18 and released on his own recognizance. It is unclear whether the two have seen each other.

“He is a great father and husband,” the insider added.

The Daily Mail reports that Biel is “embarrassed” and “extremely upset.”

A representative for Biel did not respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.

In a statement, attorney Edward Burke Jr. said. Wednesday that he “looks forward to vigorously defending the pop star.”

“He will have a lot to say at the right time. He is currently awaiting full discovery by the district attorney’s office,” Burke told TMZ.

The “Cry Me a River” singer was charged on June 18. According to the criminal complaint, he told an arresting officer that he had only had “one martini” and was following friends home from the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, NY.

According to TMZ, the singer will not be going to rehab — which is a typical celebrity move into DWI or drunk driving — and will instead focus on his world tour. (Timberlake’s rep did not respond to Yahoo’s request for comment.) Page Six is also reporting that he is “moving on” with the tour, as became clear Friday evening.

“People who have been around the singer for years tell us they never knew he had a problem, and that he is generally in control when he is in public,” TMZ claims.

Timberlake has never been arrested and his drinking has never really made headlines unless he brings it up himself. In 2019, the singer issued a public mea culpa to Biel when he was photographed holding hands with a co-star. (“A few weeks ago I showed a strong lapse in judgment – but let me be clear – nothing happened between me and my co-star. I drank way too much that night and regret my behavior. I should have known better.” )

The singer did not directly address that scandal for over a week.

Erik Schiffer tells Yahoo that “Justin can’t dance this one away.”

“He needs to take ownership and take ownership, and he can do this through the right one-on-one interview,” added Schiffer, president of Los Angeles-based Reputation Management Consultants.

Perhaps that could come through Gayle King, who publicly defended the singer CBS mornings. “Justin Timberlake is a really great guy,” she said. “He’s not an irresponsible person, he’s not reckless, he’s not careless.”

Schiffer believes the DWI “hurts” Timberlake’s “brand trust and likability.”

“It results in a loss of respect from fans and the public, and leaves brands wary of future collaborations,” he says.
