Kamala Harris gets applause for responding to audience member who shouted Trump ‘going to jail’

Vice President Kamala Harris, who has pitched her presidential campaign as “the prosecutor versus the criminal,” drew applause for her response to an audience member who raised former President Donald Trump’s legal troubles during a Labor Day campaign rally in Pittsburgh on Monday.

The vice president told her supporters how the former president was “trying to take us back in time, even back to a time before workers had the freedom to organize,” when one audience member shouted “he’s going to jail.”

“Well, the courts will handle that and we’ll handle November. What do you think about that?” Harris replied.

She added, amid cheers: “We’ll handle November. Let the courts handle the rest. But we’re not going back.”

Harris’s supporters chanted “lock him up” at a rally in Wisconsin last month, prompting the vice president to issue a similar message.

“Well, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute,” she said then. “You know what? Here, wait a minute. Here’s the thing, the courts are going to handle that part of it. We’re going to beat him in November.”
