Kansas City firefighters rescued a man found dangling upside down from a tree and on foot

A man was rescued by the Kansas City Fire Department on Tuesday after he found himself hanging upside down from a tree by his foot.

The Kansas City Fire Department responded to the report in the 5900 block of Indiana around 8 p.m

Upon arrival, the crew found the individual upside down by his foot, entangled in the tree.

The man had used a harness to climb and prune the trees, said Michael Hopkins, a spokesman for the Kansas City Fire Department. However, it is unclear whether the man was pruning the trees for general tree maintenance or to address storm damage.

The individual was stuck in the tree and 15 feet in the air for about 40 minutes before someone found him and called 911.

Using ladders and ropes, firefighters successfully rescued the man and lowered him safely to the ground. He was then transported to a hospital for treatment.

Hopkins said the person suffered injuries to his leg and foot, and blood rushed to his head due to his upside-down position.
