Do you eat while driving, speed in a school zone, or even honk and curse at other drivers out of anger?
If you answered “yes” to at least one of these behaviors, you could be considered a “badly behaving driver,” according to this survey. Researchers at Forbes Advisor analyzed about two dozen behaviors to find out which states across the country had the worst incentives.
After analyzing the data yourself, you may begin to question your safety measures as a driver in Kansas. You can also start deciding which roads around the country to avoid to avoid other ill-behaved drivers behind the wheel.

Kansas ranks in the top 10 for poorly behaved drivers
Kansas is ranked No. 9 and has a score of 81.33 out of 100 for the worst drivers.
The Sunflower States’ top three worst behaviors, from worst to least bad, were as follows:
It claimed the No. 2 spot among states for texting while driving and finished as the worst state for speeding in a school zone.
“It looks like more Kansas drivers need to keep their eyes on the road.” the study said. “In our survey, nearly a quarter (22%) of drivers in Kansas admitted to texting while driving.”
What other bad driving categories did the study put Kansas in?
Kansas also ranked in the top 10 in the following categories for poor driving:

Changing lanes or turning without signaling (4th).

Speed less than 10 mph over the limit (5th), tied with Virginia.

Eating While Driving (5th), tied with Maine and Vermont.

Angrily honking at another driver (6th), tied with Illinois, Maine, Minnesota and New Jersey.

Accelerate to catch a yellow light (9th).

Where were the border states of Kansas located?
Kansas is located in the Midwestern part of the country, with an area of 82,278 square kilometers, making it the 15th largest state in the country, according to the World Atlas.
“In the modern era, Kansas shares its borders with four states: Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and Colorado,” according to the World Atlas.
But of those four states, none were in the top 10 for worst-behaving drivers. They ranked in the following positions:

Missouri (23rd): Missouri earned a scale score of 59.60 out of 100.

Nebraska (24): Nebraska achieved a scale score of 58.31 out of 100.

Oklahoma (36): Oklahoma earned a scale score of 46.42 out of 100.

Colorado (38): Colorado achieved a scale score of 40.66 out of 100.
Missouri, Nebraska and Colorado’s worst driving behavior was speeding, while Oklahoma drivers had the worst behavior of eating while driving.

The top 10 states ranked alongside Kansas for the worst driving record were the following states:

Which states have the best driving record?
The survey shows that Tennessee is overall the top state for best driving practices.
The Volunteer State was ranked as the top state for speeding, less than 10 mph over the limit and 30 mph or more over the limit.
Ohio was ranked as the next best state, followed by Pennsylvania and Florida.
