New court documents were filed Tuesday in the Karen Read murder case, seeking information from her father.
In a 27-page filing, her lawyers push back on the Commonwealth’s request for Bill Read’s data.
The Norfolk County District Attorney wants Bill Read’s phone calls and text messages around the time of John O’Keefe’s death in January 2022.
Prosecutors allege that Bill Read has made conflicting statements about conversations with his daughter and that they plan to call him as a witness at the next trial.
Read’s lawyers are calling the request a “fishing expedition” and an improper invasion of Bill Read’s privacy.
The defense says prosecutors already have phone conversations between Karen Read and her father on Karen’s phone.
Read is expected to appear in court on Wednesday for another hearing.
