The Karen Lees The murder trial will resume on Monday after a three-day break last week.
Read, 44, of Mansfield, is accused of attacking O’Keefe with her SUV and leaving him for dead in a snowbank outside 34 Fairview Road in Canton in January 2022 after a night of drinking. She has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges.
The defense’s theory is that O’Keefe was actually beaten up in Albert’s house and dragged out in a snowstorm, and that the Albert family is central in an attempt to entrap Read.
The late John O’Keefe’s niece and nephew were called to the witness stand on Tuesday, as the trial was held on its final day, and testified that Read and their uncle had many “disagreements and arguments” during their relationship.
O’Keefe’s cousin testified that he witnessed O’Keefe and Read having “many disagreements and arguments,” including during trips to Florida and Aruba.

In week 3 of the trial, Laura Sullivan, a longtime friend of O’Keefe, testified that Read became furious with O’Keefe during the trip to Aruba and accused him of kissing her sister, Marietta Sullivan, weeks before his death.
O’Keefe’s niece described her uncle’s relationship with Read as “good in the beginning, but bad in the end.” She also recalled the vacation in Aruba and testified that there was “screaming in the room” at the resort.
The trial will resume Monday morning at 9 a.m.
