The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that Amanda Kessel, who served as special assistant to general manager Kyle Dubas in 2023-24, will report to Wilkes-Barre Scranton general manager Jason Spezza as assistant general manager in 2024-25.
In addition to her role as assistant manager at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, she was promoted to manager of minor league operations.
Kessel, a three-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist, is the younger brother of former Penguins star Phil Kessel, who skated for Pittsburgh from 2015 to 2019 and won the Stanley Cup in 2016 and 2017.
As a top player for the United States, Amanda was called up to the PWHL for Montreal last season, but she did not play a single game, opting to take a managerial role with the Penguins.
Kessel played four seasons at the University of Minnesota, scoring 248 points in 136 games. She skated briefly in the NWHL and PWHPA, making her final appearance with Team Adidas in 2022-23, where she scored five points in six games.
