Knicks sign first-round draft pick Pacome Dadiet for 80 percent of standard contract

The Knicks signed a first-round draft pick Pacome Dadite to 80 percent of a standard first-round contract on Thursday after paying $850,000 to Ratiopharm Ulm, Dadiet’s German club, as part of a buyout, according to SNY’s Ian Begley.

The deal saves New York about $900,000 under the hard cap for 2024-25 because the buyout money paid overseas will not count against the team’s salary.

Dadiet doesn’t get a cut, and the contract amount is standard for a first-round pick in his spot. However, the 25th overall pick gets 80 percent of the prize, because of what the Knicks are paying for his buyout.
