Kodai Sengawho has been working his way back from a calf injury is considering a roster move, according to multiple reports.
The right-hander threw 25 pitches during a live bullpen session on Monday.
Then director Carlos Mendoza said “we’ll see” when asked about the possibility of Senga being on the roster for the NLDS, adding that it was a good sign that Senga was feeling good and his speed was up.
Senga was initially expected to return in the final week of the regular season.
However, after going all the way up from the calf strain he suffered in late July, Senga felt some triceps stiffness following the rehabilitation start he made on September 21.
It’s unclear what Senga’s exact role will be if he’s on the NLDS roster, but he hasn’t been stretched to start in a traditional capacity.
That means Senga would likely be an opener of sorts — perhaps pitching a few innings — or be used after another starting pitcher in a piggyback scenario.
