PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A lucky Philadelphia Eagles fan received the surprise of a lifetime at Lincoln Financial Field on Tuesday.
Ally Monteiro was the grand prize winner of Toyota’s Fan Giveaway this year, taking home a brand new RAV4, thanks to a little help from Eagles guard Landon Dickerson.
“I didn’t know how to process it all,” Monteiro said.
“It’s a great opportunity to give back to the fans. They do so much for us as a team,” Dickerson said.
Monteiro entered a competition last year to determine who she thought would be Player of the Year. She chose recently retired Eagles center Jason Kelce. At that, Dickerson laughed: “I honestly stand by that statement too, so I can’t even be offended.”
Monteiro, a 17-year education professional, now works for a nonprofit in Germantown. She said this car is a real gift as her current car is “nearing its end.”
Bob McCormick, secretary of the Tri-State Toyota Dealers Association, sponsored the giveaway.
“If we can help one of the fans and do the right thing and give away a car, that’s pretty nice for us,” McCormick said.
Dickerson said that when he’s not making tackles on the offensive line, he doesn’t mind dishing out a few more moments like this.
“I’d like to give out more if Toyota is ready. I don’t know what the quota is? You’ve got a car, you’ve got a car… look under your seat, there’s a couple of car keys,” Dickerson said.
