Last week, firefighters in North Carolina had to remove a large alligator from the road.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office was called to a traffic disturbance around 1 a.m. on June 28.

Boiling Springs Lakes Fire Rescue posted on social media that a 12-foot alligator was in the middle of the road and would lunge at drivers.

Police called for backup and when firefighters arrived, they worked together to move the alligator.

They decided to spray water away.

“After a gentle shower started to encourage the alligator to retreat, the alligator decided it was done with civilization for the time being and returned to its more natural habitat,” the organization said on its Facebook page.

The road was eventually reopened.
