Time is running out to ship something that will arrive in time for Christmas. For some, this means the only way to get gifts is to go shopping in person.
Last-minute holiday shoppers from across Delaware County came to the Springfield Mall on Friday.
“I’m always at the last minute,” said Tracey Sadler of Chester. “It just happens that way. I don’t really like shopping in stores. I’m online most of the time.”
Sadler bought perfume and clothes for her goddaughter.
“We just have a lot of graphic T-shirts and things like that,” Sadler said.
While the mall was busy, the atmosphere was cheerful, with poinsettias and a light-up reindeer. Joan McLaughlin of Glenolden got some clothes for her daughter.
“We have all kinds of things,” McLaughlin said. “We have leggings and eyelashes.”
Most people said they had already done most of their Christmas shopping.
“I’m not putting it off,” said Springfield Mall customer Hallston Harris, who bought a sweater for his wife. ‘I’ve actually done all my shopping. But I just buy a few extra things just to have stocking fillers and things like that.”
Damon Oliver of Swarthmore is also shopping for his loved ones.
“I have stuff for my wife that I can’t show you or she’ll find out,” Oliver said.
Sean Thoulouis of Upper Darby was looking for sports equipment.
“This is my dad’s Eagles jersey. Definitely go to Eagles. I’m about to get him a championship ring here,” Thoulouis said.
He said he came up with a plan in case the mall was full, with less than a week left until Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.
