Laura Loomer promotes 9/11 conspiracy theory after attending events commemorating the attacks with Trump

Far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer raised questions about the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on Friday, just two days after she accompanied former President Donald Trump to ceremonies commemorating the events of that day.

“The American people deserve to know the whole truth,” Loomer wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “Not just what our lying government wanted to tell us.”

“There are so many unanswered questions… Why?” she continued.

Trump’s decision to include Loomer as part of his entourage at ceremonies in New York and Pennsylvania on Wednesday drew criticism from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), one of his allies in Congress, who called her earlier comments “troubling.”

“I think the president would be wise to make sure this doesn’t become a bigger story,” Graham said.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) also expressed his displeasure in a message on X on Friday.

“A DNC plant could not do a better job than it is doing to hurt President Trump’s chances of re-election. Enough,” he said.

Loomer also attended Trump’s ABC News debate in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

The far-right activist recently posted racist comments about Vice President Kamala Harris, saying the White House would “smell like curry” if she were elected. The comment even drew the ire of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who has embraced hateful rhetoric in the past.

Loomer dismissed Graham and Greene’s criticism as jealousy, saying her top priority is to ensure Trump wins in November.

“Republicans attacking me are just jealous they weren’t on the plane with President Trump,” she wrote.

After attending the 9/11 memorial, Loomer told The Associated Press that she had simply been invited to join Trump and that she had no formal role in the campaign.

Meanwhile, the National Republican Senatorial Committee defended sharing videos from Loomer’s X account, including one featuring Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) on Wednesday, the anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

“NRSC shared a video of a reporter asking Jon Tester why he voted to allow men to compete in women’s sports, which is a huge issue in Montana and across the country. We share content of left-wing, right-wing and centrist reporters asking tough questions of Democrats,” NRSC spokesperson Mike Berg told HuffPost, adding that the organization would share videos of senators asking questions of anyone.

The committee declined on Friday to address the conspiracy theories promoted by Loomer.

The White House has spoken out about the far-right activist’s close ties to Trump.

“No leader should ever work with someone who spreads this kind of ugliness, this kind of racist venom, and who continues to stoke these kinds of dangerous and offensive conspiracy theories,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Thursday.

Igor Bobic contributed to the reporting.
