BROCKTON – Veterans Day, held annually on November 11, is an opportunity to take an extra moment to show gratitude to military members for their sacrifice and service.

The holiday honors the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces on the anniversary of the end of World War I more than 100 years ago on November 11, 1918.

You can honor veterans by thanking them for their service, supporting veterans-owned businesses and charities, placing flowers and flags on graves, and watching or participating in parades.

The East Bridgewater Kiwanis Club has established a flag field on the Town Common, and a thousand flags have been planted in the flag field at Shaw’s Supermarket Store Support Center in West Bridgewater to honor our nation’s veterans.

Brockton will honor our veterans with a parade and ceremony on Monday, November 11 at the War Memorial.

The 71st anniversary of the Abington, Rockland and Whitman Tri-Town Veterans Day Parade will be celebrated in Abington this year.

Here is a list of Veterans Day events in Brockton and neighboring communities.

ABINGTON

The 71st annual Tri-Town Veterans Day Parade for Abington, Rockland and Whitman will be held in Abington on Monday, November 11. The parade will depart the Beaver Brook School student entrance at 10 a.m. and proceed north to Washington Street, turn right on Adams Street, then right on North Avenue (Rt. 139), ending at the Cellar Tavern.

On Thursday, November 19, 2022, a Veterans Day program was put together by the kindergarten students at Beaver Brook Elementary School in Abington.

BRIDGEWATER

The Tri-Town Veterans Day Commemoration for Bridgewater, East Bridgewater and West Bridgewater will be held in Bridgewater this year. The parade will depart Park Avenue on Monday, November 11 at 10 a.m. and travel to Summer Street, then depart from Central Square onto Bedford Street to the Veterans Gazebo at Legion Field, where a ceremony will be held after the parade. The parade will take place rain or shine.

BROCKTON

The Veterans Day Parade will take place at War Memorial, 156 West Elm St., at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade route will depart from West Elm Street, south on Newbury Street, east on Belmont Street, north on Main Street, west on West Elm Street, ending at the War Memorial, where a ceremony will take place at 10:30 am. In case of bad weather or extremely low temperatures, the parade will be canceled and a ceremony will take place in the auditorium of the War Memorial Building.

EAST BRIDGEWATER

The Tri-Town Veterans Day Commemoration for Bridgewater, East Bridgewater and West Bridgewater will be held in Bridgewater this year. The parade will depart Park Avenue on Monday, November 11 at 10 a.m. and travel to Summer Street, then depart from Central Square onto Bedford Street to the Veterans Gazebo at Legion Field, where a ceremony will be held after the parade. The parade will take place rain or shine.

EASTON

Easton’s Veterans Day Parade will be held on Monday, November 11, starting at 10 a.m. at the Post Office in Washington Plaza on the corner of Main Street and Rt. 138. The parade marches down Main Street to the World War I Memorial for a salute to WWI veterans. The parade continues to Veterans Memorial Park for the Veterans Day ceremony. After the ceremony, drinks will be provided by a food truck. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the VFW Hall, 61 Rockland St.

HALIFAX

The annual Veterans Day ceremony will take place on Monday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at Halifax City Hall, 499 Plymouth St. This year’s celebration will see the unveiling of 70 Hometown Hero banners and a formal ceremony.

MIDBORO

The Middleboro Veterans Day ceremony will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11 in the Town Hall Grand Ballroom, 10 Nickerson Ave.

RANDOLPH

A Veterans Council Breakfast with a speaker program will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 11 at the Elks Lodge, 21 School St. Tickets are available at the Randolph Veterans Services office and at the door. At 10:45 a.m., veterans and color guards gather and march to Randolph War Memorial, Crawford Square. At 11 a.m., the Randolph Veterans Council will hold a ceremony and wreath-laying ceremony at the Randolph War Memorial, Crawford Square.

ROCKLAND
