Long Beach police have arrested a man they say is involved in a series of robberies and burglaries at local businesses in recent months.

Tyler Isaac Cooper, 23, was arrested Sept. 10 when he was recognized by detectives near 5900 Atlantic Avenue while they were investigating a robbery that occurred the day before, according to a statement from the Long Beach Police Department.

“He was apprehended and arrested by officers from the North Division and subsequently transported to the Long Beach City Jail where he was booked on eight counts of robbery, one count of kidnapping, one count of grand theft of property and one count of petty theft,” the LBPD statement said.

Cooper is being held on $510,000 bail.

Details about each individual robbery are limited, but investigators say that in recent incidents, Cooper would jump up to the counter of a business, where he would order or force the victim to open the cash register while simulating having a weapon. He would then take money and flee the scene.
