Los Angeles County Courthouse in Torrance evacuated as bomb squad investigates unknown device

According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the Torrance Courthouse was evacuated after a device was reported outside the courthouse Wednesday morning.

Sheriff Arson Explosive Detail units respond and use a robot to investigate. As SKYCal flew overhead, the robot was seen reaching for an orange inflated bag next to a cooler on a bench. The robot punctured the orange bag and it appeared that a small explosion occurred, but there was no damage to the robot.

No further information is available and investigation activities are ongoing.
