Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control has suspended the license of a liquor store near Newburg after the store was raided by law enforcement, Louisville Metro ABC spokesman Brandon Bowden said in a statement Wednesday.
Louisville Metro ABC has issued an emergency suspension order for Liquor Palace 5, located in the 5600 block of Preston Highway, Bowden said.
The company can file a request to appeal the suspension within three to 10 days, although the suspension will remain in effect as that process unfolds if the company decides to go that route, Bowden said.
“Louisville Metro ABC is committed to maintaining public safety and ensuring compliance with alcohol regulations. We will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners as this investigation progresses,” Bowden said in a statement.
Louisville Metro Police officers and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives entered the store Friday for a law enforcement operation, but both agencies have declined to reveal the cause of the investigation.
“ATF Louisville Division, assisted by LMPD and other law enforcement agencies, conducted a law enforcement operation involving multiple court-authorized arrest warrants. We cannot comment on active investigations,” ATF spokesperson Jennifer Hicks previously said in a statement.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
