PARK RIDGE, Ill. (CBS) — A Glenview man was charged after him stole a car from the victim during a fight in Park Ridge last month.

Tomasz J. Kalembasa, 40, was charged with vehicle hijacking.

Park Ridge police said Kalembasa walked into a resident’s driveway on Oct. 27 in the 1200 block of N. Northwest Highway, where the victim, a resident, was sitting in his gold-colored 2005 Toyota Sienna minivan. Police said Kalembasa approached the car, opened the door and demanded it.

The victim refused and Kalembasa then walked down the driveway toward the street as the victim followed him and called 911 on his cell phone. The two got into an argument in the driveway, during which he was able to get away from the victim, get into their car and leave the scene heading southeast on Northwest Highway, police said.

On Tuesday, Kalembasa was taken into custody by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and then transported to the Park Ridge Police Department.

Kalembasa was treated without incident and is awaiting his first court appearance.
