San Bruno police arrested a man Wednesday on suspicion of stabbing a passenger on a San Mateo County Transit District bus and attempting to steal the vehicle.
According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, police responded to reports of a violent altercation on a SamTrans bus in the 1100 block of Huntington Avenue around 9:15 a.m.
Officers discovered that a passenger had been stabbed and that the suspect was believed to be trying to steal the bus.
Upon arrival, officers found a victim with at least one stab wound to the abdomen. The person was taken to a local hospital for surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, the sheriff’s office said.
John Allmon, 58, of Oakland, was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, theft of a motor vehicle, resisting or delaying a police officer and providing false identification to a police officer.
In January a man was stabbed multiple times on board a SamTrans bus near the intersection of Middlefield Road and Fifth Avenue in the unincorporated town of North Fair Oaks.
