Los Angeles County deputies shot a man who allegedly tried to carjack people while armed with two knives in Palmdale on Monday.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, officers were dispatched to the area around 20th Street East and Avenue R. after learning of the armed man around 8:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they tried to order him to drop his weapons, but he refused and allegedly charged towards them, prompting them to open fire.
“The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital,” the LASD statement said. His condition was not immediately known.
Officers say even after the man was shot, he still tried to grab the knives before they could take him into custody.
