Authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with an incident in which an armed man allegedly threatened a school bus on Friday, Moss Point police said in a news release.
According to police, Jacinta Kendral McPherson, 40, used a car to stop a school bus that was trying to move forward. Edwin Eugene White, 23, then tried to “confront” the bus, which was carrying children, police said.
Police said school officials reported that White was carrying an assault weapon during the incident. The department did not immediately release more details about the altercation.
Police were also called to Kreole Elementary School, where a parent reported McPherson was in a car with a firearm, the news release said.
Moss Point police and Jackson County emergency services searched a home at 5609 Rose Drive in Moss Point on a felony warrant and arrest warrants in connection with what the department called two “alarming incidents.”
White is facing a charge of simple assault on a school official, in this case the bus driver. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bail.
McPherson is charged with disrupting the operation of a school bus and has been released on bail, police said.
