A Georgia man was arrested after Avis said the car he was renting was stolen. Now he is taking action.

Elinor said Avis promised him a full refund in April, but he still hasn’t gotten his money back for the rental vehicle, which cost about $750. He said the company has remained silent despite several calls.
Elinor said that aside from the money, he remains traumatized by his arrest, which took place in Carrollton.

“All I hear is, ‘Stop,'” Elinor said. “I see a bunch of guns pointed at me.”
Elinor, from New York, rented the car from Avis. At one point it pinged as if stolen from a Flock camera.
“I never knew what being traumatized was until this situation here, actually,” Elinor said. “Every time I see the police I get a little fussy, I panic a little.”
Elinor said two managers offered him a full refund for the ordeal, but more than a month later, Elinor said Avis ghosted him.

“I kept calling but no one answered,” Elinor said.
He said a representative offered him a partial refund.
“I’m not going to settle for a partial refund,” Elinor said.
He said the company should do what’s right in putting him in danger by renting out a vehicle that was reported stolen.
“I feel disrespected,” Elinor said. “I feel like I will absolutely never do business with Avis because they don’t respect their customers.”
Avis has sent a statement saying it is aware of the incident, but that it is a legal matter and they cannot comment further.
In the meantime, Elinor said he is taking legal action against Avis.
