Man arrested, charged with murder in July shooting death of 16-year-old in Lexington

Lexington police have arrested a man accused of killing a 16-year-old teenager in July.

Robert Constant, 36, was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center on Wednesday, according to jail records. He has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

The fatal shooting occurred early on the morning of July 19 at the Gatehouse Apartments on Liberty Road. Police previously reported that C’aveyoun Robinson, 16, was found dead with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.

Later that morning, police raided The Revive at 1749 Liberty Road apartment building to make contact with a person suspected of the murder. Police later said the person they were looking for was not there.

Constant was identified as a suspect several days after the shooting.

Constant is being held in the Fayette County Jail on a $750,000 bond, according to court records. He is scheduled to appear in Fayette District Court on Thursday afternoon.

According to police records, there have been 10 murders in Lexington this year. Eight of this year’s homicides have resulted in arrests.
