Man arrested for stabbing and robbery of Amazon driver in Fort Lauderdale

A man was arrested Monday in connection with the stabbing and robbery of an Amazon driver whose truck broke down in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood last week, police said.

Curtis Gardner, 33, of Fort Lauderdale, faces one charge of attempted murder, one charge of armed burglary and one charge of carjacking with a weapon. He was being held at the Broward Mail Jail Tuesday afternoon.

The Amazon driver was in the 1100 block of Northwest 10th Terrace on Dec. 7 shortly after 7:30 p.m. when the truck’s tire blew out, Fort Lauderdale police spokesman Casey Liening said. A man then brandished a knife, stabbed the driver and robbed him, although police did not specify what or how many dollars worth of items were stolen. On December 9, he said that “the loss remains under investigation.”

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue took the driver to Broward Health Medical Center with serious injuries, but he is recovering, Liening said last week. The police department has not released his name.

Gardner was arrested Monday morning by the Fort Lauderdale Police Fugitive Unit, Liening said. The department has not released any additional information about the investigation that led to his arrest. Court records were not available Tuesday afternoon.
