Man arrested in Puyallup in connection with fatal collision last month in King County

A 37-year-old man who left a home in Puyallup on Thursday was arrested for a fatal collision that occurred last month in King County.

An 81-year-old man was killed April 22 while crossing the street on Southwest Roxbury Street at the age of 15.e Avenue Southwest. The car did not stop after hitting the man. Detectives identified the vehicle as a silver Jeep Compass, according to a news release from the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives used the Jeep’s license plate number to identify the driver. He was arrested during a traffic stop after leaving a home in Puyallup, the release said. The Sheriff’s Office would not say whether the man lives in Puyallup.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the King County Jail. The driver reportedly admitted to moving the Jeep to Port Orchard, where he parked it under a tarp at a relative’s home.

Detectives recovered the vehicle and it was returned to King County as evidence and for processing, the release said.
