SAN FRANCISCO — A man was arrested in San Francisco Sunday night after police say he committed a series of crimes in the city.
The alleged string of offenses began Sunday morning with reports of a stabbing on Broderick Street, where police found a man with life-threatening injuries. The victim was taken to a hospital, but a suspect was seen driving away from the scene south toward Fell Street.
According to police, the suspect was also involved in multiple hit-and-run collisions in the city, including one outside Brioche Bakery at 1640 Haight Street.
Surveillance footage showed a car running over a man and a dog on the side of the road. The car can be seen reversing and driving away just as the victim gets up.
An employee at the cafe told KPIX that both the man and his dog had some bruises, but were largely unharmed.
From there, police say they found the suspect’s car in the Mission District near Dolores Park. When an officer tried to make contact, the suspect rammed the patrol car.
Police chased him for several blocks until he got out of the car at the corner of Carson and Douglass Streets in the Castro neighborhood.
Video footage from Citizen App showed a police vehicle closing off the area.
According to police, the suspect climbed a tree a block away, but eventually climbed back out and was arrested. The suspect was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Charges have been filed.
