December 1 – A man accused of stabbing two people with a machete and running over a third person has been indicted by the Lawrence County Grand Jury.
According to the report, the suspect went to his ex-girlfriend’s home on October 30 after seeing her earlier in the evening at a restaurant in Huntington, West Virginia, with another person. .
An argument ensued and Callens brandished a machete before stabbing 53-year-old Harold E. Maynard, of 522 Private Road 856, South Point, in the neck and hand.
He also stabbed 20-year-old Harold MA Maynard, of 16 Township Road 1342, South Point, in the hand.
As Callens fled the scene, he struck 48-year-old Willa Maynard, of 522 Private Road 856, South Point, with his vehicle.
Officers found Callens in his home and he was arrested without incident.
Callens was indicted on three counts of second-degree assault. If found guilty of the charges, he could face a prison sentence of 24 to 36 years.
He is being held in jail on a $200,000 self-recognizance bond or $250,000 cash bond.

—Shannon M. Badalamenti, 46, South Point, fourth-degree misdemeanor failure to appear.
—Randy Eugene Jackson, 47, Ironton, fourth-degree misdemeanor failure to appear.
—Randall Curtis Pennington, 59, South Point, fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs.
—Lisa M. Moore, 45, Proctorville, fifth-degree felony burglary.
—Jonathan A. Cole, 46, Proctorville, fifth-degree felony burglary.
—Jeffrey A. Holley, 39, Proctorville, fourth-degree felony interfering with public service, third-degree misdemeanor domestic violence.
—Mark Edward Bensinger, 65, Ironton, third-degree felony aggravated trafficking in drugs.
—Trent E. Price, 22, Manchester, fourth-degree grand larceny.
