Man charged with murdering 79-year-old Bedford woman after breaking into her home

Bedford police have arrested a 39-year-old man on murder charges for the killing of 79-year-old Christine Barsanti at her home on Thursday.

The suspect is believed to have entered the victim’s home and beat her to death after asking to use her phone, Bedford police said in a news release.

Brandon Paramore, of Euless, was charged with murder Monday. Tarrant County jail records show his bond has not yet been finalized.

According to police, officers were called to the 2400 block of Meadow View Lane on Friday regarding someone who was unconscious there. When they arrived, they found Barsanti in the house. She was dead, hit by an unknown object.

During their investigation into the home invasion, police obtained surveillance footage showing a man wearing a black shirt, black tights and white tennis shoes approaching the victim’s front door on Thursday. The woman answered the door and spoke to the suspect, who police said wanted to use her phone. After she refused, the suspect forced his way into her home, the release said.

The footage showed that the person who entered the home appeared to be Paramore, which officers determined based on previous contact with him, police said. Officers were able to locate him and he was arrested Saturday on unrelated charges as the murder investigation continued.

“Our thoughts are with Ms. Barsanti’s family, who have supported us in our efforts to bring her justice,” Deputy Police Chief Bobby LaPenna said in the news release.

Paramore’s bond will be set when he is arraigned. Police say the case is still under investigation.
