Man dies after argument escalates into shooting in east Kansas City: police

A man was killed Friday evening after an argument in east Kansas City turned into a fatal shooting, according to police.

Kansas City police officers responded to the 2000 block of Drury Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Friday after reports of a shooting, said Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a KCPD spokesperson.

According to Gonzalez, officers found the man lying in the street with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead after the shooting.

Police investigators believe the man was shot by another man after the two argued. No suspects have been identified and no one was in custody Friday, Gonzalez said.

Friday’s shooting was the 122nd homicide reported in Kansas City this year, according to data compiled by The Star. According to Star data, 148 homicides had been reported in the city by this time last year.
