A man was fatally shot in the 180 on Friday evening on the east sidee murder in Indianapolis this year.
Police were dispatched to the 3600 block of North Dearborn Street around 7 p.m., where gunshots were reported but were not found anywhere. Minutes later, two blocks away, on the 3500 block of North Lasalle Street, they saw two injured men, according to a press release from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
One victim suffered a gunshot wound and was sent to the hospital in critical condition, while the other suffered a laceration, IMPD reported.
The gunshot victim later died. His name and age were being withheld until the Marion County Coroner formally identifies him and the family is notified. The police have made no arrests.
The 180 murders this year exceed the total of 174 for all of 2023.

Police have solved 65 cases so far, a 36.6% clearance rate, according to monthly data from IMPD. But according to IMPD, police have also solved 45 murders this year from last year.
Last year’s homicide rate was down from 2022, when 226 people were killed, and 2021, when a record 271 people were killed.
