KINNEY, Minnesota — A 26-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after a crash in northern Minnesota Thursday afternoon.

According to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office, emergency responders were called shortly before 5 p.m. to a report of a man lying in a ditch on the 5300 block of Highway 25, just south of Kinney.

When responders arrived, the victim was located and officials say they determined he had been struck by a motorist who then fled the scene. He was airlifted to a hospital in Duluth.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident along with the Minnesota State Patrol.

Kinney is located approximately 71 miles northwest of Duluth.
