Man in Ormond-By-The-Sea apartment fires shots at neighboring units, patrol vehicle

Volusia County sheriff’s deputies were responding to an incident in Ormond-By-The-Sea on Thursday morning in which a man shot at a deputy’s vehicle from his condominium and also targeted neighboring units.

Neighbors at the Kingston Shores Condominiums at 5500 Ocean Shore Blvd. were notified and evacuated, according to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office posted shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Traffic is being diverted.

The sheriff’s office is asking residents and others to avoid the area while emergency crews work to resolve the incident.
